Visual art in the Klang Valley is largely concentrated within the city. Balai Seni (National Art Gallery) is located along Jalan Tun Razak and was established in 1958. Institutions like Galeri Petronas and Bank Negara Museum and Art Gallery are also noteworthy.

There are numerous galleries that are well-regarded around Klang Valley. OUR ArtProjects is the gallery within the arts hub of Zhongshan Building in Kampung Attap that aims to introduce our art to a discerning global market. ILHAM Gallery specialises in contemporary and modern Malaysian art. Malaysian contemporary art is well represented in galleries like Richard Koh Fine Art, Wei-Ling Gallery, Shalini Ganendra Advisory, TAKSU KL and HOM Art Trans. Spaces like Minut Init, APW and Kerbauworks occasionally host exhibitions that offer alternative voices within the visual arts scene. RumahLukis in HuluKlang highlights a more personal side of local artists' work.

Outside the city, Publika is a shopping centre that houses multiple galleries, including an “Art Row”, Galeri Chandan, Artemis Art, Segaris Art Centre and their own White Box.

Beyond Klang Valley, the Hin Bus Depot in George Town, Penang is home to exhibitions and surrounded by popular street art. Art lovers in Kuantan, Pahang, should make a trip to Rajawali Gallery. Over in Sabah, the Sabah Art Gallery is home to a permanent collection of local art, and has a steady roster of programming. For events from the more independent side of Sabah, do see Bentarakata.
